Historic New England is pleased to present this special audiovisual tour of Boston's ordinary commercial and residential streets at the turn of the last century. Rare photographs - selected from Historic New England's extensive collection - are paired with informative audio commentary about the bygone businesses, neighborhoods, and the day-to-day hustle and bustle of the growing metropolis. The result is a unique look at daily life on the well-traveled, but rarely photographed, byways of the Hub of the Universe at a fascinating period in the city's history.

Take a stroll and see Boston close up as it was in the 1890s and early 1900s.
